Entries set to open for Rally Anglo Caledonian

Entries for November's Rally Anglo Caledonian will open on Friday 7 June with over 140 stage miles on offer in northern England and southern Scotland over the weekend of 23-24 November.

The Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club is running the new event on alternate years with the Roger Albert Clark Rally and the Anglo Caledonian event will be open to all types of rally car, including four wheel drives. The new rally will offer many competitors a chance for a longer and more challenging gravel rally than they would normally be able to contest. The Rally Manager will be Colin Heppenstall, supported by the same core team that organises the Roger Albert Clark Rally.

Regulations will be published on Saturday 1 June and entries will open a week later with a completed entry form and a deposit of £250 needed to secure an entry. The rally will be able to accommodate up to 180 cars. The entry fee is £2500 if paid in full before 31 July, rising to £2650 after that.

From the start at H&H Auctions in Carlisle, Saturday will feature 81 stage miles across eight stages in Ash Park, Kershope, Buck Fell and Gowanburn with six of the eight stages running to more than 10 miles. Service will be at H&H in Carlisle and at Kielder Greenside. On Saturday, some of the stages will be similar to those used on last year's Roger Albert Clark Rally and will not have been used for a year with the last two stages likely to run into darkness.

After an overnight halt in Carlisle, Sunday's route will move into southern Scotland with eight stages and 61 stage miles in Castle O’er, Twiglees, Windy Hill and Ae with service at H&H Auctions in Lockerbie and a late afternoon finish in the Lockerbie area. On Sunday, most of the action will be completed in daylight, but the later cars may run into darkness for the closing stages before the finish back at Lockerbie from around 4pm.

In addition to the main event, there will be single day rallies on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the Anglo Rally will offer 45 stage miles from Carlisle for £799 and on Sunday the Caledonian Rally will offer 46 stage miles from Lockerbie for the same price of £799.

Colin Heppenstall said: “I've been very encouraged by the level of interest in this brand new event. We want to build this event to run on the alternate years when we don't run the Roger Albert Clark Rally and there seems to be a good appetite for a longer and more challenging event in the classic forests of the Scottish Borders.”
